Hi all!
I want to begin by apologizing for the embarrassing lack of posts on the blog lately. I really have to adequate excuse besides the truth that life has been crazy. Thankfully, however, Spring Break has given me a nice breather and some time to catch up reading on my favorite blogs and writing some posts for my own!
I'm so happy to be back into the routine of #FF. This week's theme is irresistible: polka dot fun! I personally am a major fan of polka dots, so putting together this ensemble wasn't too awfully difficult. ;)

happy birthday, Keira!

Oh, Keira Knightley. There are so many things I could say about her lovely and talented self, but I'll keep it short. She is probably my favorite actress today - I just loved her in Pride & Prejudice, Pirates, and King Arthur. She's just so amazing! Today is her 27th {crazy!}, so I just had to post a little birthday wish to my favorite actress. :)

a quick update.

I'm back! After an amazing, impactful mission trip to Haiti, I feel very refreshed and ready to get back into the routine of things. 

The trip was absolutely incredible. So much progress has been made since the earthquake - physically and spiritually - and God is doing amazing things there. Our team painted buildings, visited orphanages, and basically showed as much love as we could to the sweet Haitians. I hope the Instagram snapshots give you a glimpse of the joy in that place! 

Right after the trip was my birthday, and it was absolutely marvelous. My family treated me well - dinner and a Broadway show. They know me so well! 

So that's what's up in my world. I can't wait to catch up with you all and visit around my favorite blogs. I miss you dears!

I hope your Valentine's Day was simply wonderful! Mine was dandy. I sat at home watching chick-flicks and gorging on chocolate for my special day. Hoping yours was a bit more romantic and eventful than mine! Hehe! 

Anywho, I'm sad to say that this week I'm going to take a little break from my dearly-beloved blog world because I am going on a mission trip to Haiti. I am extremely excited about this amazing opportunity, and I can't wait to see what God will unfold on this trip. However, I obviously won't be able to do any posting from the grounds. :(

In the meantime, I will miss you dears and I will be looking forward to catching up when I get back! I'll be sure to update on a few highlights ASAP.

It's that time of the week again! How? I have no idea. But it is, and my mind is still trying to grasp how the time flew this weekend. All of the wonderful festivities of the weekend have come to a close and it's time to begin the cycle of madness again! Happy Friday all! And praise the Lord for weekends. 

This week has been absolute madness for me! From school to parties to more school and more parties, I couldn't be more exhausted. Oh, how thankful I am for the delightful reprieve of the weekend from the crazy festivities of life!

Anywho, this week's outfit is a very preppy one. I've been leaning my eye towards maroon hues this season, and I think they can be balanced really nicely with tans and other neutrals. Layering is a big rarity for me and my style, and I need to incorporate it more often! Chambray + a cable knit sweater really captures the layering look without going bulky.

 Cozy layers of warm, deep shades make me want to cuddle up by the fire with a cup of cocoa, flipping through the latest issue of Vogue. Care to join me?

lilly pulitzer spring 2013.

Ok, try not to freak out, but spring has officially arrived at Lilly Pulitzer. And basically, it's perfection. Scrolling through the lookbook will seriously make you swoon. The new collection is brimming with bright colors, bold patterns, and an exuberant amount of girly! Lilly is taking a preppy, feminine take on spring, and I couldn't be happier! So much to love.

Bold patterns have kinda been an obsession of mine lately. With this New Year and all the fashion resolutions, I think I'm going to attempt to make the addition of bold patterns to my closet one of them. I wear lots of solids and rarely ever sport a print of any kind, but this year it's time for a change.
I completely adore the patterns above. From the bold floral print to the Kate Spade Wink, I'm head-over-heels in love.

This week's #FF theme is really fun: black + white. Ahh, the timeless classic color scheme. Billions of possibilities ran through my mind on what to make this board look like, but I finally settled on a sweet + flirty look that's perfect for parties or dinner outings. Take a peek:

Basically, this black + white {and gold!} ensemble aims to portray chic + girly while remaining sophisticated + professional-looking. The pops of gold in the glittery heels and accessories tie this whole outfit together. Ahhh. I just love to look at it.

I don't know about you all, but I'm always quick to check out J. Crew's "Looks We Love," and they never fail to promote their most recent collections. Their latest is to die for.  

These just make me so happy...I am dying for spring! Once the holidays are over I'm always ready to bid winter goodbye, and I'm really feeling it now. Oh well, a girl can dream, can't she? These bright colors + patterns make me oohh and aahh.

monday moodboard {no. 1}

Happy MLK Day! Hope you all are enjoying your day off.
I've decided to start a little something new on the blog - dedicating a day to sharing with you a few inspiring photos jumbled onto a neat little moodboard. Each week I am inspired with so much, and it would be a sin not share with you all! ;)

Here's what's been inspiring me lately:

Ahhh. Sparkly flats, bright sorbet, pretty chevron. 

And my eye for organization is coming out in this arrangement too - big, chunky sweaters folded neatly and a wonderful arrangement of fashion magazines stacked way up high. 

Oh, and lately, I've been really craving a tea length skirt...what do you think about mustard yellow? I'm wanting to go bold.

Okay, there's no denying it. I'm head-over-heels in love with Louis Vuitton's MINI lookbook + video. If you haven't seen their "Small Is Beautiful" campaign yet, you need to - it's amazing! And what makes my heart smile is that this timeless French label solicited fashion bloggers such as Elin Kling, Miroslava Duma and Hanneli Mustaparta to model for this collection and convince us of the big impact small handbags can have. {Way to represent, ladies!} 

I dare you not to be mesmerized by the photos below.

"As for the majority of the new handbag versions, the color palette is decidedly spring-oriented though bright and bold tones can work for adding a fab focal point in any season. Oh, Kate. She is just about the most poised, classy women alive, and everybody knows it. I admire her so much, and in honor of her 31st birthday on January 9th, I decided to dedicate a little post to her. 

Kate Middleton is a style icon for women all around the world, and I thought I'd gather a few of my favorites that she has sported in 2012 and share them with you all. Take a look!

Whenever I hear the words, "emerald city," my mind instantly travels to sitting a big, beautiful theater taking in the magnificent voices of my Broadway favorite, Wicked. So, as you can imagine, I'm super excited about this week's theme. Emerald green is Pantone's color-of-the-year, and I'm actually really excited about it! I hardly own any green in my closet, so this new year will give me a chance to branch out and go green! Literally!

I've always been a Kate Spade fan, but lately I've been getting really obsessed. They've announced loads and loads of new arrivals, and I'm getting so excited! To express my excitement, I've put together a little collage of my favorites - whether new releases or the classics! Take a look:

The above items are all ones that have been my favorites since they've hit the stores, I simply adore them. From the fun, poppy arm candy, watch, and handbag to the simple, subtle flats and bag. It doesn't get any better than classic Kate!

I'm obsessing over these new releases. I just love the color scheme of bold sea tones and simple patterns. The bottom right bag features their "pattern-of-the-month" - deco. So fun!
